Minister must act to protect Callan Park: campaign launch today
A broad and diverse coalition of environment and community groups will today launch a campaign to press the O'Farrell government to adopt the award-winning Callan Park Master Plan and Trust.
Launch: 3pm Friday 7 September, Callan Park
Campaign partners: Friends of Callan Park, Callan Park Bushcare group, Sydney City Farm, Glovers Garden and We Help Ourselves.
Greens MP and Member for Balmain Jamie Parker said:
"The Minister must commit to implementing the award winning Master Plan to protect this valuable site and ensure it is maintained for the community.
"Heritage buildings are being left to ruin due to neglect, with emerging evidence of asbestos contamination and buildings being looted and vandalised.
"This is a beautiful historic site which is much loved by the community and we have a responsibility to act immediately to protect and restore it," Mr Parker said.
Mr Parker will also announce that he will give notice for the introduction of the Callan Park and Broughton Hall Trust Bill into the NSW Parliament next week.
