Today in Parliament Western Metropolitan Greens MP Colleen Hartland will
ask the Planning Minister to return to community consultation.

"The Western Suburbs community was consulted and ignored under Labor and
now they’re not even being consulted," said Colleen Hartland.

"We’ve gone from bad to worse and the Baillieu Government needs to stop,
consult with the community and act on it."

The Greens say the Regional Rail Link project and the approval of a 25
storey tower in Footscray demonstrate an appalling lack of community
consultation.

"The previous Government began the process of forming a community
consultative committee for Regional Rail Link, they even interviewed
applicants. Of course residents then found out they were going to have
their houses acquired through the media."

"As if that wasn’t bad enough, the Baillieu Government has taken no steps
to form a community consultative committee and hasn’t communicated with
the applicants. They applied six months ago now, it’s just not good
enough."

"Approving a 25 storey residential tower in Footscray without even talking
to the local council, let alone the community, just further demonstrates
how far off track things now are."

"Here’s a new idea for the Government and both of the old parties – try
talking to the community and representing what they want for a change."
