Illegal hunting due to Game Council bungling
Media Release - 10 May 2011
The NSW Game Council's admission that they issued illegal hunting permits is clear evidence that the body is incompetent is not fit to exercise its statutory powers in NSW, according to the NSW Greens MP David Shoebridge.

"The Game Council has no credibility when it cannot even perform the simple administrative tasks of telling hunters which forests are open to hunting and which are not," Mr Shoebridge said.
"There are 31 forests which have been closed for hunting since March. It appears that the Game Council only worked this out late last week.
"The first notice given by the Game Council these forests had been closed to hunters since March was in a notice published on its website late last week.
"In the meantime, the Game Council has been sending hunters illegally into NSW State Forests. Any hunter operating in any of these State Forests since March has committed a crime.
"This bungling again proves that 'conservation hunting' is a sham. Feral animal control should be done by professional hunters, not reckless amateurs out for some blood sports.
"The Game Council is clearly incapable of exercising its statutory responsibilities. Minister Hodgkinson must act and return feral animal control in NSW to professionals," Mr Shoebridge said.
