A new Galaxy poll commissioned by the Australian Greens shows
overwhelming opposition to the logging of native forests.
The poll of 1100 Australians conducted on 24-26 July reveals 77 percent
agree the Rudd government should stop logging in native forests.
Australian Greens Leader Senator Bob Brown said the poll is solid
evidence that Australians wanted an end to native forest destruction to
immediately combat climate change and protect wildlife habitat.
"Prime Minister Rudd is offside with the majority of Australians who
understand that the logging of native forests, including woodlands, is
unnecessary and dangerous for the climate."
"Ending the destruction of Australia's native forests and woodlands
could immediately reduce greenhouse gas output by some 20 percent,"
Senator Brown said.

Question: The Australian National University has found that Australia's
native forests contain a large amount of carbon that would be protected
by ending forest clearance. In your opinion, do you agree or disagree
that the Rudd government should stop the logging of native forests?
