Logging vigilantes attacked cars with axes and incendiaries 

The logging vigilantes who firebombed two cars parked by the
Strathgordon tourist route late Thursday night first attacked the cars
wielding an axe. Greens Leader Senator Bob Brown, who visited the site
of the attack today, has asked for police action against the vigilantes
and a patrol to keep watch on the area.

Senator Brown said that this attack, following a sledgehammer attack on
a protest car containing two young people on Thursday, was criminal
behaviour with pro-logging thugs taking the law into their own hands.

"This cuts right across the Bartlett Government's $1.6 million
advertising campaign using beauty and tranquillity to attract visitors
to Tasmania."

"Next, the logging authorities will chainsaw and firebomb the World
Heritage value Upper Florentine forest itself", Senator Brown said.
