Greens MP to visit Port Macquarie Base Hospital and proposed marina site
Greens MP Lee Rhiannon will be campaigning in Port Macquarie on
Tuesday with local Greens candidate for Port Macquarie, Susie Russell.
Ms Rhiannon will visit the Port Macquarie Base hospital and inspect
the proposed site of the mega-marina development.
Tuesday 7 October 2008
11:30 Port Macquarie Base Hospital
Susie and Lee will make an official visit to Port Macquarie Base
Hospital and talk to staff at the hospital about the dire lack of
funding and problems with overcrowding.
1:00 Westport foreshore and proposed marina site
Susie and Lee will visit the proposed site for the mega- development.
Greens MP and health spokesperson Lee Rhiannon said: "Port Macquarie
Base Hospital is now the worst performing hospital out of all the
rural base hospitals in NSW.
"Staff at the hospital are crying out for funding but the NSW
government seems deaf to community concerns.
"I look forward to talking to staff at the Hospital so I can put
pressure on Health Minister John Della Bosca in the upcoming budget
estimates session."
Greens candidate Susie Russell said: "Planning a multi-story
mega-marina development on low-lying land a whisker away from the
river is irresponsible in the face of climate change.
"The major parties clearly have their head in the sand on this issue."
