Call for Rees to expand inquiry to cover all Tony Stewart allegations
Greens MP Lee Rhiannon has called on the Premier Nathan Rees to expand
the Chris Ronalds SC*s investigation into the actions of Mr Tony
Stewart to cover all the complaints about the former minister*s
behaviour.
"Several complaints have been made about Mr Tony Stewart from former
police officers and public sector workers. The Premier has a
responsibility to deal with these matters," Ms Rhiannon said.
Earlier this week Ms Rhiannon was contacted by former detectives, and
then a government speech writer who provided information about alleged
inappropriate conduct by Mr Stewart.
"Now Mr Stewart is refusing to accept the findings of Chris Ronalds SC
investigation of events at the Garvan Institute fundraiser, the Premier
has a clear obligation to widen the original inquiry to look at all
complaints.
"These complaints about Mr Stewart stretch back to 1995. If they are
accurate they suggest a pattern of behaviour in this MP*s dealings
with public servants.
"The Premier's problems with Mr Stewart's behaviour are not over.
*Mr Rees needs to show leadership and deal with this matter to help
restore public confidence in his government.
"The way forward is to expand the Chris Ronalds SC inquiry so she can
investigate all complaints recently revealed about Mr Stewart*s past
behaviour," said Ms Rhiannon.
