The Tasmanian Greens today expressed sincere condolences to the family
and friends of Mo El-Said, the first Greens' endorsed councillor to
serve on the West Coast Council, who sadly died on Tuesday this week.
Greens Opposition Leader Nick McKim MP, speaking on behalf of all
Tasmanian Greens members and supporters, said Mr El-Said had broken new
ground for the Greens as their first West Coast Councillor and had been
a passionate representative of his local community.
"Mo's actions over a long period of time showed his commitment to the
West Coast community and his passing will leave us all the poorer," Mr
McKim said.
"Mo will be remembered in many positive ways, but his commitment to the
improvement of local health services on the West Coast, and his
determination to se the Rosebery Community Hospital retained will be
among his most enduring legacies."
"Mo was a real West Coast character who will be sorely missed by the
community he represented and his colleagues in the Greens."
"Mo was a highly valued representative on the West Coast Council, where
his diligence and commitment earned great respect in the local
community."
