[Greens-Media] Road tunnel will harm the West (Vic, C Hartland MLC)

Greens MLC Colleen Hartland will oppose the road tunnel under Footscray.

"We're talking about a road tunnel underneath Footscray, belching diesel 
and petrol fumes from the exhaust stacks into a vibrant, thriving suburb. 
As if we didn't have enough pollution already," said Colleen Hartland

"The tunnel entrance will destroy a neighbourhood.  The plan has it coming 
up in residential streets, close to my office."

"And if that isn't bad enough, hiding on page 105 is a paragraph saying 
that plans for an elevated road ploughing through West Footscray and West 
Sunshine have not been shelved.  The residents who are campaigning in 
those areas are devastated.  They attended the briefing with me this 
morning.  They are shocked by the lack of detail, and the news that they 
will be living in the shadow of the elevated road plan for years to come."

Ms Hartland will comment on other western suburbs aspects of the 
government's transport plan this afternoon.
