Greens MLC Colleen Hartland has called on the Government not to delay the
formal announcement of their plan for a new road through the western
suburbs, following the 'strategic leak' in The Age newspaper today.

"You can’t mess with people's lives like this", said Colleen Hartland.

"All over the western suburbs, people are wondering whether the road he's
planning is the one Eddington proposed to go through their suburb, their
park, their street, their house."

"There was no public consultation. Mr Brumby has treated these people
with contempt, letting them worry and fret. And now this."

"People have to go to work, come home, play with the kids, live their
lives with this threat hanging over their heads."

"I don't know who is advising him to treat people this way, but it's
wrong", said Colleen Hartland.
