Greens MLC Colleen Hartland has congratulated the community, following
Brimbank Council's sudden decision to oppose the proposed new road
tunnels.

"If Brimbank council has finally figured it out, there's hope for the
State Government yet", said Colleen Hartland.

"The community has been very vocal at the public meetings attended by
myself and Cr Miles Dymott.”

"It’s quite clear that without the community campaign, Brimbank council
would not have changed their minds.”

"Councils across the affected areas in the western suburbs are now clearly
saying that they don’t support the road tunnels.”

"The new road plans are incredibly unpopular in the western suburbs.”

"I have more public information meetings planned on the roads and tunnels
issue. I have a meeting arranged for the Sth Kingsville / Spotswood area
on Monday 1 September*, and another in the Caroline Springs / Deer Park
area on 18 September**,” said Ms Hartland.
