The Tasmanian Greens today said that Premier and Education Minister
David Bartlett must review the Tasmania Tomorrow implementation process,
saying that a recent Australian Education Union survey, which was
revealed by the Greens in Question Time today, shows that over three
quarters of AEU members surveyed at Secondary Colleges lack confidence
in the program's implementation.

Greens Leader and Education Spokesperson Nick McKim MP said that the
review is a damning indictment of Mr Bartlett's handling of the Tasmania
Tomorrow restructure, and demonstrates that he has lost the confidence
of the eduction professionals who will determine the success or
otherwise of any reform of Tasmania's post-compulsory sector.

"Without the support of the hard-working professionals in the
post-compulsory sector Mr Bartlett's reforms are unlikely to succeed,
because they are the very people on whom he is relying to implement the
restructure," Mr McKim said.

"In the light of this survey Mr Bartlett must review all aspects of the
Tasmania Tomorrow reforms to ensure that his restructure has the
confidence of the teaching community, and will not be detrimental to
learning outcomes in Tasmania."

"It is just not acceptable that some teachers do not know where they
will be teaching next year, or what subject they will teach," Mr McKim
said.

Mr McKim said that Mr Bartlett's decision to attack the AEU in Question
Time today showed that he is out of touch with teaching professionals.

"I am very concerned that the Tasmania Tomorrow restructure will impact
on the same cohort of students who were effected by the ELS debacle," Mr
McKim said.
