Raise aged pensions for Christmas - Greens

Brown calls on banks to cut rates

Australian Greens Leader Bob Brown will hold a press conference today
calling on the government to assist struggling pensioners by increasing
the aged pension for Christmas.

Senator Brown will also respond to comments from Macquarie Bank that
banks could cut interest rates immediately 'if they wanted'.
