Central Coast community outrage as power line threatens health
Media Alert: 23 April 2008
Community protest calling on Minister for Energy to re-route and bury the 132 kV power line being built between Ourimbah to Terrigal
When: 12:30 pm, Wednesday 23 April
Where: Outside Governor Macquarie Tower, 1 Farrer Place, Sydney
Speakers include Greens NSW MP John Kaye, Gosford Councillor Terri Latella and representatives of the local campaign.
Central Coast residents are travelling to Sydney to call on NSW Minister for Energy Ian Macdonald to stop construction of 19.6 km of 132,000 volt overhead feeder between Ourimbah and Terrigal and order Energy Australia to underground the line on a new route that protects the environment of Wamberal Lagoon and Terrigal Lagoons.
The overhead line will run past homes, schools and childcare centres, posing health risks to the young people of the Central Coast.
