MEDIA ALERT

Rudd visits coal plant in China, but not wind farm or solar factory

Are we headed for coal's biggest ever budget bonanza?

WHO: Australian Greens Senator Christine Milne

WHEN: 11.15 am, Friday 11 April

WHERE: Senate Courtyard

"As the shiny hopes of 'clean coal' start to tarnish around the world,
amid growing concerns about cost, timelines and feasibility at such
tremendous scale, the Rudd Government and the coal sector are becoming
increasingly shrill in promoting the stagnating technology from the
Otways to Beijing.

"Australians who are crying out for serious action on climate change and
support for energy efficiency and renewables would be appalled if Rudd
delivers coal's biggest ever budget bonanza."
