Media Alert
Greens shred WorkChoices on Channel Ten's "Meet the Press"
What: The Greens show a new advertisement attacking the ALP's
"WorkChoices Lite" industrial relations policy and advocating that the
Greens are the best party to ensure a return to a fair and just
industrial relations system in Australia.
Where: Channel Ten's "Meet the Press" advertisement breaks
When: From 8 AM (AEST) Sunday 23 September 2007
Background: Kevin Rudd's industrial relations policy has been criticised
for caving into big business. This has seen the ALP allow AWA individual
contracts to remain for 5 years, the watering down of unfair dismissal
laws and prohibiting industrial action in a wide range of circumstances.
This advertisement harnesses these concerns by portraying the ALP policy
as little more than "WorkChoices Lite". With the ALP backsliding on its
IR policy, the Greens are now the only party committed to completely
getting rid of Work Choices.
