Senate agrees to Close the Gap

Monday 17th September 2007 - 5:30pm

The Senate has just agreed (without dissent) that; 

"The need to act to 'Close the Gap' to achieve health equality for
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders within a generation is a matter
of urgency."

We now look forward to the Government setting targets in order to reduce
the difference in life expectancy to nominal levels within twenty five
years.
