Opera House joy

Greens Leader Bob Brown says that the inscription of the Sydney Opera
House on the World Heritage list this afternoon is a joyous thing for
Sydney and Australia.

"The Opera House is an astounding creation of the 20th century and one
of the great buildings of our era," Senator Brown said.

"Greens Senator Christine Milne, who is at the meeting of the World
Heritage Committee in Christchurch, says the Australian delegation is
delighted. There will be much celebrating tonight."

"On Tuesday, the World Heritage Committee voted unanimously to send a
top level mission to Tasmania to study the impact of logging of
old-growth forests on World Heritage values and the Tasmanian Wilderness
World Heritage Area, Senator Brown said.
