Abetz attack on Tasmanian writer is puerile - Brown

Eric Abetz's attack on Richard Flanagan at a logger's conference in
Coffs Harbour is puerile and can only hurt his own standing as
Tasmania's top minister in the Howard government, Greens leader Bob
Brown said today.

"The Minister for Forests has first run to Sydney's extreme-right
columnist Piers Ackerman, next he's going to whinge about Richard to a
bunch of bemused foresters seeking a good time at a NSW coastal resort.
It is childish stuff from a Minister who should be concentrating on how
much his regeneration burns worsen climate change," Senator Brown said.

"The only poll on old-growth logging in recent years showed a three to
one majority of Tasmanians don't want it," Senator Brown said.
