MEDIA RELEASE - TUESDAY 17 APRIL 2007

GREENS SUPPORT MORE FUNDING FOR VICTIMS OF CRIME

Colleen Hartland has indicated that all three Greens in the Victorian
Upper House will vote in favour of the Victims of Crime Assistance
Amendment Bill 2007 today. The Bill seeks to increase the payments to
people who have been victims of crime.

"These payments and access to services are an important acknowledgement of
the pain and suffering of the victim, and can be seen as part of the
healing process", said Ms Hartland.

"Having discussed the Bill with the other MPs, Greens party members and
with members of the community, the Greens will be voting for the Bill",
said Ms Hartland.
