Death penalty

Howard, Brown and Beazley agree

The Senate today passed a motion on the death penalty without dissent.
Senator Bob Brown's motion read:

		That the Senate:

		(a) notes that the death penalty was removed from the
Australian statute books in 1973; and

		(b) calls on the Government to ensure that Australia's
opposition to the death penalty is clearly known by all other countries.
