Greens challenge ALP to public debate
Brisbane Central candidates Tuesday 5^th September*

*The Greens Brisbane Central candidate has challenged Premier Beattie to 
a public debate on local issues. This morning the Premier confirmed he 
was unable to attend, but will send the member for Mt Coot-tha instead, 
Mr Andrew Fraser MP.*

Queensland Greens Brisbane Central candidate and environmental lawyer 
Larissa Waters welcomes the opportunity to allow the public to question 
the parties on policy and raise issues of local importance.

“I’m sure Brisbane Central voters will be disappointed that the Premier 
cannot make it to a public debate in his own electorate. However they 
will have the chance to question Mt Coot-tha member Andrew Fraser on 
issues that are important to them.

“It’s unfortunate they will not have the chance to question the Liberal 
Party candidate, who has not returned calls inviting him to attend the 
debate”, said Ms Waters.

Voters in the Brisbane Central are invited to a public debate between 
the candidates for Brisbane Central electorate* from 6-8pm on Tuesday 
5^th September, at Ithaca Hall, corner Kennedy & Enoggera Terrace, 
Paddington.

Queensland Greens Brisbane Central candidate Larissa Waters, a public 
interest environmental lawyer, is the debate organiser.

Ms Waters encourages all voters in the Brisbane Central area to attend, 
free of charge, for a question and answer session with the candidates 
about the issues that matter to them.
