          Qld Greens Media release

Greens Challenge Labor on Minnipi Water issue in Bulimba

“In the face of extreme water restrictions in South East Queensland the
Labor government should be campaigning against the proposed golf course
development at Minnipi in the Bulimba electorate” said Greens candidate
for Bulimba Howard Nielsen.

“With Bulimba voters having to bucket water to their gardens there
should be a ‘no go’ decision for the water-sucking proposal for a golf
course and housing development at Minnipi.”
“South East Queensland is already well supplied with golf courses and
much as I don’t mind the occasional hit of golf the very idea that the
government should allow a new golfing development is ridiculous and
makes a mockery of the Beattie governments alleged priority on sensible
water use”, said Mr Nielsen.
This is aside from the already contentious issue of biodiversity
management and conservation of squirrel glider habitats at Minnipi.
Mr Nielsen challenged the Labor Member for Bulimba to come out with a
promise to stop the proposed development.
