Judy Jackson enters Wielangta court challenge

State Attorney General Judy Jackson is seeking to intervene in Senator
Brown's Federal Court challenge to logging at Wielangta on Tasmania's
east coast.

The Attorney General has asked for Senator Brown's consent to permit her
intervention on two issues related to the Tasmanian Forest Agreement.

Senator Brown has challenged Forestry Tasmania's logging at Wielangta
because it threatens rare and endangered species including the Swift
Parrot, Tasmanian Wedge tailed eagle and the Wielangta stag beetle.

All three species are listed as endangered by both the state and federal
governments.

The matter will be before the Federal Court in Hobart next Tuesday 23rd
August at 10.15 by video link from Melbourne to Hobart.
