Vital Greens 10% Urged to Vote 'YES'
'Tasmania Pivotal' - Brown
With Tasmania seen as pivotal in Saturday's referendum on the republic,
Senator Bob Brown has urged Greens voters to vote 'yes'.
"The Greens' 10% of Tasmania's voters are very analytical. Many have not
yet made up their minds.
"I took a key role in the Senate debates, know the faults as well as the
good points of this republican model, and I strongly recommend a 'yes' vote.
"If Tasmanians vote 'yes', the referendum will be won and Australia will
move into the new millennium in full control of its own destiny, refreshed,
independent and with its own head of state", said Senator Brown.
Senator Brown said he also wanted to send the 'yes' message to the 3-4% of
people who vote Green, nation-wide.
"The Greens' contingent is unsure. Many people are still making up their
minds. I'm urging them to take the bold option for Australia', he said.
